The Seneca Rapids, a U16 NCSL team in the spring, are holding tryouts throughout the year for interested players born after Aug. 1, 1993. We are part of a two-team group trained full-time by Coerver Coaching of Maryland under the supervision of Lance Van Winter of Whitman HS. Goalkeeper training is provided by former UMD varsity keeper Rich Labonski. Strength and conditioning training is handled by Jim Fox, formerly of the Washington Capitals. The Rapids group consists of a travel squad supported by a Div. 1 MSI-Classic team. A variety of positions are currently available on both rosters.
Head Coach Jim Haner holds a USSF E-license and has partially completed the NSCAA Advanced Regional course. He has coached travel up to Div. 2 of the NCSL, and is the author of the critically acclaimed new book, Soccerhead: An Accidental Journey Into The Heart of The American Game (see: www.soccerheadbook.com).
